2017 YEAR IN REVIEW:  HAPPY 2018!  I'm grateful for all the wonderful people & opportunites I came across in 2017 & looking forward to an even richer & more abundant 2018.   I feel truly blessed & lucky to have music in my life-music is the best!  2017 was a fantastic year for Andy Bianco Music as I started to aggressively pursue the booking/development of my own projects; namely my jazz trio/quartet/quintet.  I created a string of new live video performances documenting new music of mine & led my band at such venues as Shapeshifter Lab, Tomi Jazz & Silvana & also had one of my modern jazz compositions liscensed for use in the Hollywood film, "Roman J. Israel ESQ" starring Denzel Washington & Colin Farrell.   I added some regular performances to my schedule uptown with The Nickel & Dime OPS's brief stint at Gin Fizz in Harlem & had a wonderful 6 month Wednesday late night residency at Smoke Jazz Club with Nathan Peck's fabulous funk/fusion band Nathan Peck & the Funky Electrical Unit-featuring a tremendous cast of jazz musicians such as Adam Niewood, Dave Cook, Misha Piatigorsky, Kenny Grohowski, Don Aliquo & Freddie Hendrix.  In addition to that we also had some stellar performances at the world renowned 55 Bar in Greenwich Village & at The Django in Tribeca. In March I had the honor of performing with the great  R & B queen Deborah Cox along with Ray Chew, once again as a part of Onree Gill's  superlative band.  It was truly joyful getting to share the stage with Deborah & perform Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" as well as Chaka Khan's  classic "I'm Every Woman"!   I joined the top notch club date band The Atomic Funk Project late in the month of May & throughout 2017 played shows all over the tri state area as well as terrific venues in NYC such as The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens & The world famous Pierre Hotel.   It was a blast rocking out once again at BB King's in Times Square & at The 2017 Richmond Jazz Festival in Virginia with the Grammy winning artist Elle Varner, with whom I've had the great honor of performing & touring with for almost 5 years.  Some fun out of town shows also were presented to enthusiastic audiences in Baltimore, Newark & Philadelphia with the Glenn White Quintet, George Burton Quintet & the Nickel & Dime OPS, the jazz/hip-hop supergroup that I’ve been a part of for almost 6 years. As I expand the booking opportunities for my own groups & others throughout NYC I will look to taking the Andy Bianco Trio/Quartet/Quintet on the road & to perhaps even intenational venues as those possibilities unfold-remember the world is as big as you can dream & anything is possible!    It was an especially productive year for the Dime OPS as we had shows in Philadelphia & overseas in Athen's,Greece as part of the 2017 Summer Nostos Festival & we also recorded a new album of music this past summer featuring a new composition of mine arranged for 3 horns.  Keep an eye out for the Nickel & Dime OPS, "Resusitation Music" album dropping this April!  That's all to report for now-have a great year & thanks for stopping by Andy Bianco Music!

2016 YEAR IN REVIEW: 2017 HERE WE GO!  I’m so grateful to share with you the enthusiasm I have for this year & discuss some great opportunities from 2016.  That year started off with a string of epic shows I performed with R & B artist  Elle Varner in  New York City, Washington DC & Bridgeport, Connecticut.  Elle just won her first Grammy Award contributing to Chance the Rapper’s 2016 mixtape “Coloring Book”.  I always have a blast rocking with Elle & I look forward to doing more shows with her in 2017.  In 2016 I got to meet & work with 2 world-class musical directors, Onree Gill & Ray Chew, both in a studio setting & performing live.  This gave me the opportunity to perform w/Neo Soul high priestess Angie Stone in March 2016, which was an extremely memorable performance & a career highlight for me.  I also did a full album’s worth of guitar tracking for Ray Chew’s daughter Bianca in May 2016.  I look forward to hearing the finals when it is complete & I’m thankful to have more work with these great MD’s in 2017.  I started to get into some music consulting work in the last year & was very fortunate to get to work on the hit Netflix series “Orange is the New Black” & the upcoming indie film “10 Things We Should Do Before We Break Up” featuring Christina Ricci.  I find it incredibly rewarding to get the chance to utilize my musical skills in new & different environments & I intend to explore more of that in 2017!  I’m still performing every Thursday late night at Smoke Jazz Club with the Nickel & Dime OPS, the jazz/hip-hop supergroup that I’ve been a part of for almost 5 years.  We are preparing to go back into the studio with a diverse array of new songs for our next album; be on the look out for us performing at venues in NYC, throughout the USA & internationally in 2017.  I was honored to join my close friend & musical collaborator Nathan Peck in his band The Funky Electrical Unit for his fall & winter late night residency at Smoke Jazz Club, featuring great musicians such as Adam Niewood, Roy Dunlap, Adrian Harpham, Kenny Grohowski, Glenn White, Shareef Clayton & others.  Thanks to all who participated in the residency & all those who supported us.  Stay tuned for more to come with Nathan Peck’s project in 2017. I performed some exciting shows with pianist extraordinaire George Burton & his Group 5 at such venues as Rockwood Music Hall & Fat Cat in NYC & I’m looking forward to performing with George at Cornelia St. Cafe in April.  George also started back up his weekly improvised funk/neo soul gig at Bed-Vyne Brew in Brooklyn that I’ve been stoked to be a semi- regular part of.  In addition to that I’ve also been leading my own jazz quintet more & more performing at such venues as Smoke Jazz Club, The Zinc Bar & Shapeshifter Lab.  I’ve got a ton of new music that I’ve written & I’m hoping to record my third official album release soon. That’s all I have to report for now, thanks for coming by Andy Bianco Music & have a great 2017!

After returning home to NYC my next adventure was a 6 show 2 city tour in Japan with R & B diva Elle Varner for Billboard Live.  It was an eye opening experience getting to explore Osaka and Tokyo once again and all the shows we performed were terrific!  Later in the summer we rocked the 2015 Essence Festival in NOLA once again and I’m happy to report that we just played 2 smashing shows this past weekend at BB Kings’ in Times Square and The Howard Theater in Washington DC.  A plethora of musical activity is in the works with this project in the future...Be sure to keep a look out for Elle’s next album!  In more jazz related news, I was honored to become a member of pianist extraordinaire George Burton’s Group 5 Quintet, and we performed some stellar shows at The Zinc Bar & Fat Cat in NYC’s Greenwich Village..Including debuting some new jazz compositions of mine as I recently finished writing new material for another jazz album...Stay tuned for that!  I was grateful to have contributed to 2 new albums by good friends/colleagues of mine, Glenn White’s “Quirk” which just received an outstanding review featuring me in the jazz blog Nextbop & Nathan Peck’s “Top Dead Center” which also received excellent critical acclaim from Bass Player magazine...Congrats to Nathan & Glenn!  Support independent artists and get your copies of these fantastic new titles today!  I’m honored and looking forward to working with the world class music director Onree Gill (Alicia Keys, John Mayer, The Backstreet Boys) later this month, as I’m sure this will prove to be a golden opportunity.  I look forward to sharing more of my experiences with you all.  Please keep in touch and once again thanks for stopping by Andy Bianco Music!

2014 YEAR IN REVIEW:  Hello everyone and welcome to 2015!  With such a futuristic ring to it we can all be sure that this new year promises to be better than ever, and  I wish all my friends, family, fans and supporters great joy and prosperity going forward.  2014 proved to be a fantastic year for me, starting off in the early spring with the opportunity to work in the studio with producer extraordinaire Gary Katz (Steely Dan, Joe Cocker, Diana Ross) for Aisha Eustache’s song “Tornadoes”.  I’m grateful to have gotten to work and learn from such a master of music making!  I also found myself in the studio again recording with modern jazz saxophonist/composer extraordinaire Glenn White, tracking an array of his wonderful new compositions (and one of my own) with an exciting fresh line up of personnel...Stay tuned for when this album drops because it will be stellar!  I’m very lucky to report that during this past year I was offered performing opportunities with an assortment of up and coming R & B artists such as Elle Varner, Kandace Springs, Gabi Wilson & Tiara Thomas, and while regrettably I wasn’t able to commit to all of them I was still honored to perform with Elle Varner to sold out shows at SOB’s in NYC as well as dynamite performances at the 2014 BET Awards/Experience in Los Angeles, the 2014 Essence Festival in New Orleans, and at Rockwood 2 in NYC (with rising star Kandace Springs).... We’re gearing up for a 3 show tour of Japan with Elle Varner for Billboard Live in late April and I can’t wait....In the summer of 2014 I had the great privilege of joining the cast of the critically acclaimed stage production by Spiegelworld entitled, “Empire” for a 2 month residency in Tokyo, Japan & after that a 4 month 3 city tour of New Zealand.  It was an incredible experience working with such a great group of wonderful people that allowed me to experience modern theater and a whole new level of showmanship and artistic expression.  In the early fall of 2014 I was thrilled to receive critical acclaim from Bop-N-Jazz regarding my last album release on Armored Records entitled “Homefront”, and I was also delighted to hear that my old Pittsburgh friend (the stellar drummer James Johnson III) had released his latest album, “Between” on which I was honored to play guitar...Get your copies of our latest albums today, and thanks for stopping by Andy Bianco Music!

2013 YEAR IN REVIEW: Well another year has past and 2013 marks my 2nd full year in NYC.  I’m very grateful to have come across a plethora of performing, recording, co-writing and production opportunities over the last 12 months.  This past spring began with me signing with Armored Records for the release of my second official album, “Homefront”, my homage to the modern jazz legacy of my hometown of Pittsburgh.  It has received radio play multiple times on various Pittsburgh radio stations and will soon be on other stations across the USA.  Click on the link above to get your own physical cd/digital download, as it’s a great recording that everyone should have.  Stay tuned for some upcoming shows in NYC featuring my jazz quintet performing in support of my new album!  My previous self released album entitled “Forces of the Wild” also received a stellar review by Stanley Zappa in The New York City Jazz Record, and more reviews are coming in. In July I got to perform at the world famous Blue Note jazz club with The Nickel and Dime OPS, which is the same superlative jazz/hip-hop band that I’ve been performing with weekly at Smoke Jazz Club for almost 2 years.  We also hosted our CD release party at The Cutting Room in November (read the review of the concert!), presenting our first full band album entitled “The Soulygamist”, and filmed our first music video as a band!  It was a real pleasure to perform with jazz vocalist Milton Suggs for the month of July at Smoke Jazz Club in his organ quartet, as Milton is a superb vocal stylist and one to keep an eye out for!  I became the guitarist for the Grammy nominated R & B artist Elle Varner in July of 2013, and it has been a real thrill to work with her. Thus far we’ve performed standing room only venues and sold out shows in Los Angeles, Washington DC and New York City, and we’ve got an upcoming tour in the spring that I’m quite excited about.  As you might imagine, being a freelance guitarist in one of the most expensive cities in the world can be quite costly, so I was very fortunate to receive my first artist discounts with Godin, ESP & Dean Markley, 3 great companies that produce exceptional guitars and accessories making my financial concerns regarding gear significantly reduced.  I’ve also been focussing on producing my own songs/tracks with more intensity this last year, and have been submitting tracks to an array of music libraries, licensing my music for film and television, and broadening my knowledge base as a producer/songwriter.  2014 is shaping up to be the greatest year yet, and I’ll keep you posted as more news comes in.  Once again thank you for stopping by Andy Bianco Music!

2012 YEAR IN REVIEW: 2012 was an exciting time for me as it was my first full year in NYC.  I’m happy to report that I’ve met a lot of new people in addition to reconnecting with many old friends.  I’m working steadily and regularly in quite a wide variety of projects, and my songwriting/composing & producing skills are evolving in a multitude of different directions.   Some highlights of the past year include the soft release of my avant-garde duet project with renowned drummer Bob Moses.  Our recording entitled “Forces of the Wild” received a positive review from The Downtown Music Gallery and other reviews are coming in.  The recording is available on CD Baby, for purchase at The Downtown Music Gallery in Manhattan and also from Bob and I directly.  I’m also excited about my regular gig at the world renowned SMOKE JAZZ CLUB as the guitarist with The Nickel & Dime OPS, a jazz/hip-hop band in NYC featuring some of the world’s finest jazz musician’s every week.  We just finished recording the next album and I’m excited for when it drops.  Come by and see us every Thursday night!  I received an Honorable Mention and was a finalist in the 2012 USA Songwriting Competition for my modern jazz composition, “Southern Cross”, which will be on my upcoming jazz recording along with several more of my original works.  Keep an eye out for that!  In addition to having been able to perform regularly with such wonderful vocalists as Carolyn Leonhart, Jeff Ramsey, Tatiana Owens, Andrea Capozzoli and Emily Braden I was also honored to play guitar on several artists’ upcoming recordings this past year, such as Aisha Eustache, Nathan Peck, Erin Blatti, and Alex Goumas. While visiting my hometown of Pittsburgh for this past Christmas I also had the pleasure of laying down some guitar tracks for James Johnson the III.  James is an old friend and a world class drummer who has performed with Ahmad Jamal & Sean Jones as well as many other talented artists.  Stay tuned for his upcoming  release as it promises to deliver the goods.    I’ll keep you posted as more news comes in, and thank you for stopping by Andy Bianco Music!
